Equity Tracker

Equity Tracker is a TUI application using a record of transactions to explore account history and fund performance.

It is written in rust using ratatui for the application interface and uses SQLite to store local records.

Design Philosophy

In depth displays of highs and lows of market performance are fun to stare at but ultimately are distracting from what people should care about. Trading based on real time data is nearly all risk with few actual opportunities for reward. There are a lot of smart people who dedicate their lives to looking at the numbers and it's rare that anyone gets one over on anyone else without facing significant downsides. It's flashy but isn't consistent or lucrative. It's all capitalization and opportunity.

Really, finances should be boring. We want to minimize distractions so we can see the data that's useful to us. We want to be able to make informed decisions where we can minimize our own risk and be able to build our portfolio for the long-term.

Equity Tracker might be useless. All it's doing is providing views of historical data, and not very much of it at that. This is pointedly not a "manager" as you are ultimately your own financial manager.

It's all your data and not anyone else's. There isn't any service integration here to tell you that if you bought 28 minutes earlier you'd have 1.2% more for your money: that's actually useless.
